Interning with J leaders Exceeded All Expectations
By Olivia Ferguson, George Washington University Incoming Junior
Working this summer with J Leaders, I have been immersed in a community of passionate and hardworking people, dedicated to fostering leadership growth among Jewish young professionals. Going into my Kohn Summer internship, I wasn’t sure what to expect from my remote position as the first ever J Leaders intern, but I am proud to say it exceeded all expectations. I am truly grateful for Peter’s guidance, knowledge, and mentorship throughout this summer. I have learned so much about marketing, social media, and the Jewish nonprofit sector.
At the beginning of the summer, I set a number of goals, unsure how many would be completed or even touched. In my final week, I can now confidently say that I achieved all of my goals and more. While working with J Leaders, I gained a better understanding of peer to peer marketing and the importance of knowing your audience, as well as the amount of dedication that fuels a Jewish nonprofit.
I have been inspired by all of the people I have met who are extremely passionate about J Leaders and ensuring Jewish young professionals receive important leadership training while connecting with their community.Looking back at my eight weeks with J Leaders, I am proud of what I have accomplished, from creating social media graphics to editing video testimonials, and I am happy to see the impact of my work. J Leaders created an environment where I was able to be comfortable, ask questions, and most importantly, learn. Thank you to all who worked with me this summer and shared their wisdom.
