Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
As a center for Jewish philanthropy, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation) mobilizes assets to support the most pressing issues of our time, while building and sustaining thriving Jewish communities in the Bay Area, Israel and beyond for generations to come. We inspire personal and collaborative philanthropy, and facilitate grantmaking, impact lending, and advocacy to make the world a better place.
With our work guided by Jewish values, the Federation operates as a community foundation, partnering with individuals and families to implement their charitable visions as well as to connect and strengthen the Jewish non-profit sector. In 2022, the Federation granted and loaned more than $245 million, making it the single largest funder of Jewish causes in the state of California.
The Federation is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Manager, Collaborative Philanthropy will work closely with the Senior Director of Collaborative Philanthropy to achieve the following goals:
Democratize philanthropy – offer Collective Giving programming open to people of all giving levels and across demographics and affinity groups
Engage current and new giving circle members- by piloting Collective Giving models and partnering cross-functionally with other Federation teams.
Increase grantmaking – by educating members about organizations that they care about and by facilitating direct grantmaking through consensus and voting.
Encourage Pathways for more Federation engagement – including opening Donor Advised Funds, joining committees, exploring leadership opportunities and sharing their talents.
Strong candidates consider themselves intrapreneurs, comfortable with ambiguity and pivoting quickly based on new learning and data as we scale up our work. Your curiosity about many global topics makes you a generalist always willing to learn more and new with intelligence and authenticity. Partnering humbly, yet boldly with your giving circles members you can learn and grow together – even as you have one step forward guiding the way. You might have some special interests and knowledge to add to our overall Philanthropy Team such as antisemitism, JEDI, refugees, immigrant and asylum seekers, the Jewish LGBTQIA+ community, Jews of Color, the advancement of women and girls, climate change, food insecurity or many more topics not mentioned. This position will support the Senior Director of Collaborative Philanthropy in Team operations, data tracking, working with the marketing team, group facilitation, and donor advising, while offering hands-on experience for all involved.
